Sigma pulled back the curtain on its newest Art lens, a 24-35mm full frame lens with a constant f/2 aperture throughout the zoom range.
According to Sigma, the new Art lens is based off the crop-sensor 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM Art lens, which was the first zoom to offer an f/1.8 aperture value throughout the zoom range. The minimum aperture you can achieve with the new 24-35mm Art lens is f/16.
The lens offers a minimum focusing distance of 11 inches and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:4.4. It features manual focus override, Super Multi-Layer Coating to minimize flare and ghosting and aspherical elements to combat chromatic aberration.
An inner focusing system eliminates front-lens rotation so you can use of circular polarizing filters on the lens. Autofocus is driven by a quiet Hyper Sonic Motor while a nine-blade, rounded diaphragm brings the bokeh.
The 24-35mm art lens weighs in at 2 pounds and measures 3.4 x 4.8 inches.
This lens is compatible with Sigma’s USB DOCK, which lets you update firmware, adjust focus points and customize full-time MF function settings by using Sigma's Optimization Pro software. The lens will be available in Sigma, Canon and Nikon mounts.
